Update 2.2.24


Update

This update contains a new Disasters feature, a new game over mini-scene, and a few other minor changes and fixes.

Disasters

Disasters are random events that happen through out the run that intend to add an extra element of challenge. Disasters happen at the 5, 15, and 25 minute mark of the run(which may change in the future). At the moment, they only last a minute. The first disaster that has been implemented is Meteor Shower. For 1 minute, meteors will fall in random locations near the player and will deal damage if hit by one. More disaster events are planned to be added in the future.

Updated Stats

A new stats display can now be found in the main menu on the character panel. Character stats now scale differently so you may notice some values are not the same as before. The back highlight in the stat bar shows the max that stat can go to, so different characters max out their stats at different values.

  • "Unlocks" screen in the main menu has been renamed "Codex" (This will eventually be where unlocks, bestiary, past run, etc. can be viewed at)
  • Fix: Crosshair lagging when aiming with a gamepad (This was due to the camera-lag change added in a previous update)
  • Fix: Money gathered score(formerly "Gems Gathered" score) was incorrect on game over screen
  • Fix: Passthrough upgrades for skills weren't working after the skill rework
  • Fix: Effect chance upgrades for skills wasn't working
  • Fix: Melee weapons would briefly appear in the last used location before teleporting to the player and swinging

What's next?

For the next update, I'll try and mainly focus on getting the character skill tree's implemented. Like with most of the other features, it may be bare-bones in the beginning and be polished and changed over time. The skill tree's will have both similar and unique passives for each character and skill points will be gained when ranking up.
Bugs will take priority before anything when they are discovered and other minor changes along the way can delay bigger features.
