Update

I've decided to release the build today instead of on sunday. I'd like to try to update the game on Friday's from now on. The character skill tree's didnt make it in and will be released at a later date. The main points of this update is the permanent upgrade shop and a complete UI Redesign. Read on below to see all the changes.

Changelog

  • Permanent upgrade shop (ATM There is a limited selection of upgrades but more will be added)
  • Redesigned the UI
  • Changed money icon
  • Updated a few icons
  • Gamepad improvements
  • Main Menu now selects last map, character, and character skill used
  • Delete data button (Currently this is located at the bottom of the screen on the main menu, WARNING:There is no confirmation yet and will instantly delete data
  • Progress bars(health, xp, rank, etc.) now have "back fill" effect
  • Other starting weapons are now locked behind rank (They can still be obtained in-game)
  • Camera now slightly lags behind the player
  • Adjusted money drop rates(Money and item drop rates increase over time, up to minute 30)
  • Increased size of magnet and health pickups
  • Pause menu now will not display while level up menu is displaying(This was done to help with controller menu navigation)
  • Mock Shadows under enemies
  • 99 Rerolls that was used for testing has been removed. Now rerolls may only be gained from the permanent upgrade shop. More ways to get rerolls will be added
  • Prevent move animation before game has started
  • Boss enemy will now always spawn north of the player, preventing the enemy from spawning on top of the player
  • New status effect: Lifesteal (Chance to gain life equal to damage dealt)
  • New orbit skill: Vamp Spheres
  • Fireball damage reduced from 8 to 5
  • Arrow Attack damage reduced from 5 to 3, but cooldown has also been reduced from 2 seconds down to 1 second.

What's next?

I'd like to do some behind the scenes rework of ability coding/logic that will make them more flexible and efficient. Performance doesn't seem to be an issue at the moment, but is always good to try and optimize for the future. Character skill tree's may be a little later down the road, probably after the ability rework. Health and damage numbers MAY be increased, to allow for finer tuning. Sound Effects are on the todo list and I'll probably add a couple in the next update. I'm aiming to released updates on Fridays instead of sundays.
